rtemanía, fair of art and antiquities, it has prepared a typology of the collector of art, being based on the experiences of a hundred of antiquarians and gallery owners. The success professional is the one that more concentrates on the possible future revaluation of the pieces acquired to answer to the previous question, Artemanía has realized a study on the most habitual profiles of buyers of art, antiquities and design, all of them visitors and habitual clients of this fair. The study has been based on the experiences of more than one hundred of antiquarians and gallery owners during 16 years that Artemanía takes being celebrated, two times for year, in Madrid. From this study four profiles have arisen type of buyer: the buyer of the whole life, the understood one, the professional of success and the neophyte.
That of the whole life (From 60 years)
He is a veteran collector. Normally man, at a high economic level, and it usually overcomes the sesentena. It takes more than 40 years in contact with the art and the antiquities, a love that possibly comes to him from family, what grants him a spontaneous interest in the world of the collecting. Normally it has a series of preferences fetish, classic painting and ancient furniture, although it does not disdain other disciplines inside a similar style. He tries only to buy very good and very special things to increase his particular collection. It is assiduous to the fairs and to his two or three antiquarians of reference, in whom he trusts entirely and for whom it allows to take advice.
The understood one (From 45 years)
It is a question of a collector specialized with a high cultural level. It is only interested for a certain type of pieces or objects, which constitute exclusive his collection. His interest area limits itself to a very limited group of objects, being every new piece an authentic treasure inside the frame of the collection. It is a question of a person who dedicates enough time and effort to locate these pieces that are missing in his collection, and who enjoys almost more the search than his acquisition. In addition to coming to professionals, it investigates in Internet, attends to auctions, fairs and particular sellers. His love leads him to researching and to study up to the point of turning into real expert in the matter of his collection. He goes so far as to know more than the professional that it is selling it to itself.
The neophyte (Between the 25 and 40)
The neophyte begins in the score in the collecting, his taste fluctuates and his buys are rather modest. She is the person who, after the first buy, decides to keep on cultivating his love buying, occasionally, new pieces. Unlike what happens with the expert, the neophyte is dispersed as for the typology of objects that he buys: after a picture, he buys a sculpture, a furniture or a piece of classic archaeology. It can go on from the classic thing to the contemporary thing: it is still defining his love, exploring different options. The pieces that he buys are modest, since to the being a young person his purchasing power is more limited. He tries to buy only in places that offer him all the guarantees and allows to take advice entirely for the specialist.
The success professional (Between 30 and 45 years)
The understood one enjoys almost more the search that with the acquisition, and he knows sometimes more than the own seller. Professional of success and of high income. It already takes a certain time overturning his interests on the art and the antiquities like a complement to his life style. He buys few but good pieces, and usually acquires objects of last tendency (designs of the 60, contemporary art …) It Prefers entirely definite but it is not an understood one, therefore he usually allows to guide for an expert. The investment and the possible revaluation of the pieces in a future sound components that have influence in his buys, although there are no principal thing. |
